Honey bees(Apis mellifera)at hive entrance

Welcome to Bee Healthy Landscapes!

Bee Healthy Landscapes is a volunteer program working with beekeepers across Ohio to collect samples of bees, honey, and wax to analyze for pesticide content.

The goal of the Bee Healthy Landscapes Program is to determine how the composition of the landscape surrounding a honey bee hive influences the exposure of bees to chemical pesticides in Ohio. Honey bees will forage for pollen and nectar multiple miles away from their hive. We are interested in how the types of habitats within a honey bee's foraging range influence the likelihood that they will be exposed to pesticides including herbicides, insecticides and fungicides.

If you would like to participate please conatct Scott Prajzner or Mary Gardiner.
